Handcrafted soap is soap in its true and most pure form. It is both a science and an art. True soaps are the result of a chemical reaction between vegetable or animal fats, water and lye. When combined, they transform into soap and glycerin with no lye remaining in the soap. Glycerin is a humectant - it attracts and retains moisture on your skin. It's like natural skin lotion! Most commercial soapmaking processes strip the naturally occuring glycerin from the soap. The companies process it and resell it to be used in foods, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and other products. Handcrafted soap retains the glycerin, making our soap mild, pure and more hydrating than commercially made soaps.
Indigo Bee uses only pure vegetable oils & butters in its soap, such as shea butter, olive oil, and jojoba oil. We are artisans of our craft, making soap in smaller batches to ensure that each batch of soap not only smells fabulous, but is visually stunning!
